- 1). Open the fluid canister of your steam cleaning unit, and add in about one part white vinegar to four parts water. Add the solution until you reach the fill line and place the canister back into the steam cleaning unit.
- 2). Turn on the steam cleaner and allow it to heat up for a few minutes.
- 3). Push the steam cleaner across your carpeting, pulling the steam trigger as you go along to keep the water and vinegar mixture emitting from the unit.
- 4). Continue until you have cleaned the entire carpet, and use this solution as needed to keep carpets clean and odor-free.
