How to Use a Real Microphone on a Compaq Presario CQ60
- 1). Connect the XLR cable into the XLR port on the bottom of the microphone. This port is roughly the size of a nickle and has three metal connectors inside.
- 2). Attach the opposite end of the XLR cable to the XLR side of the XLR-to-quarter-inch adapter.
- 3). Insert the quarter-inch end of the adapter into the quarter-inch jack on the quarter-inch-to-3.5mm adapter. The 3.5mm connector is the same size as your standard headphone jack, as well as the line-in jack for your computer microphone.
- 4). Plug the 3.5mm end of the adapter into the "Line-In" port on the computer.
- 5). Click "Start," "Computer," "Applications," "Entertainment" and finally "Sound Recorder." This loads the Windows sound recorder application. Choose "Line-In" as the recording device and now all recorded audio is obtained through the professional microphone.
