- 1). Allow the engine to cool down before shutting it off. Let the car idle for at least 15 to 30 seconds before turning it off.
- 2). Change the fuel that you use in your vehicle to a non-alcohol type. When fuel that contains alcohol is used in a vehicle, it causes the engine to run hotter, which can cause backfire.
- 3). Adjust the carburetor to reduce backfire. Sometimes the carburetor needs slight adjustments for the best performance. Have a professional make the adjustment for you.
- 4). Check the anti-after-fire solenoid if you have one installed. Get a professional to check if it is installed and working correctly, and let him correct the issue if necessary.
