How to Troubleshoot a Dell Photo 924 Flash-Toner Printer
- 1). Turn on the printer and open the front cover. Lift the cartridges up by pressing on the tabs as you lift.
- 2). Remove the print cartridges from the printer and make sure each cartridge has an embossed "Dell" logo on the top. Look over each cartridge for leftover blue tape from the packaging.
- 3). Clean the cartridge's metal contacts with a dry microfiber cloth. Do not rub the cloth on the bottom area that has no metal contact points.
- 4). Install the black ink cartridge in the slot on the left side of the printer and the color cartridge in the right side slot. Press on both cartridges until the tabs snap securely into place.
- 5). Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord and USB cable from the printer. Wait five seconds, then reconnect the USB cable and power cord, then turn the printer back on.
- 1). Pull out the USB cable from the printer and computer, then plug the cable back into both devices. Reinsert the cable in one of the computer's USB plugs that has worked with other USB devices.
- 2). Reboot the computer's operating system. Press the printer's "Power" button to turn it off and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
- 3). Plug the printer's power cord back in after 30 seconds. Turn the printer back on.
- 4). Click on the "Start" button or Window icon at the lower left corner of the computer's screen. Select "Printers" then right-click on the 924's icon and click on "Set As Default Printer" if there is not already a check mark next to the option.
