    Broil Element

    • 1). Unplug the Maytag built-in oven or turn of the circuit breaker that powers the oven. Open the oven door and remove the oven racks. Find the four mounting screws securing the upper broiler element to the oven. There are two screws on the rear oven wall through the broiler mounting brackets and two screws on the ceiling of the oven along the front support.

    • 2). Loosen the two upper screws with a nut driver until you can turn them by hand. Remove the two rear screws completely with the nut driver. Slide the broiler element away from the rear wall enough that you can access the wires connecting to the end of the element.

    • 3). Grasp the end of each wire where it connects to the element terminal with a pair of needle nose pliers. Pull the wire away from the element terminal and tape the end of the wire to the rear oven wall with a piece of masking tape. This prevents the wires from falling behind the oven wall.

    • 4). Remove the upper securing screws and pull the broiler element out of the oven. Position the new element into the oven lining up the front bracket slots with the holes in the ceiling. Loosely secure the front bracket to the oven ceiling with the retaining screws.

    • 5). Grab the end of each wire with the needle nose pliers and slide the wire end over the broiler element terminal ends. Remove the tape from the wires. Slide the element toward the rear wall until the mounting plates are flush against the wall.

    • 6). Secure the rear mounting plates to the oven wall with the retaining screws and tighten all four screws with the nut driver.

    Bake Element

    • 1). Loosen the two screws securing the bake element mounting plates to the rear of the oven with the nut driver. Lift the front of the element off the oven floor slightly and pull it forward until you have access to the wires.

    • 2). Remove each wire from the bake element terminals with the needle nose pliers. Tape the wire to the oven wall with masking tape. Pull the bake element out of the oven.

    • 3). Insert the replacement bake element into the oven. Slide the end of each wire over the terminal ends of the bake element. Slide the ends of the bake element through the holes in the oven wall until the mounting plates are against the wall.

    • 4). Secure the mounting plates to the wall with the retaining screws and a nut driver.

    • 5). Place the oven racks back inside the oven and close the oven door. Plug the oven power cord into the outlet or turn on the circuit breaker.
