Heedfulness In Applicability Of Wall Decals
Wall decal for a small room can be obtained very economically. Solid colors are easiest to use but they show imperfect surfaces more than patterned decal. A flowery bedroom type of design should be avoided; one stronger in character with stripes, plaids, or dots is preferable. Pre-pasted decal and washable decal are now obtainable.
Some decal to be avoided are those with weak trailing or scattered flowers or leaves, pressed or embossed surfaces, a spotty effect with motifs too dark, figures that are out of scale with the rooms, mixed motifs combining delicate and bold figures, strong diagonals that are opposed to architectural unity, papers that have three-dimensional effects, contrasting color schemes, brocade and satin stripes and medallions, restless busy patterns suggesting movements, silver or gilt, pictorial patterns, like hunting scenes, imitations of draped or puffed materials or imitation plaster effects.
Some wall decals to consider are those with grass cloth surfaces, thin wood surfaces, solid colors, marbled patterns, stripes, plaids and checks, polka dots, diamonds or stars, leaf forms copies of botany prints, copies of period prints, and French toile flower patterns.
There are certain dos and donts in applying decal when peeling decal keep hand at 90degree keep spread out at 180 degrees on the wall surface and apply. A freshly painted wall is not the right surface for the application of decal. A 2-3 weeks interval has to be given for the paint to settle well on the wall. Textile fibers spoil the sticking surface of the decal so do not rest on them. Extreme temperature is detrimental to the adhesive and it loses some of its power; Store decal intelligently in a cool place once you have bought them. Decal sticks well on clean and dry tiles as well. Porous floors and brick walls are another surface on which decals can be applied with ease. Wall decal is a boon for the wall in decoration.
