How to Get Washcloths Clean
- 1). Sort laundry to separate washcloths and other similar linen articles from other soiled articles. Launder these items together. This is particularly important when you have deeply soiled articles; you should not wash these articles with other laundry.
- 2). Wash color-safe washcloths in hot water with chlorine bleach to remove germs and bacteria. Add 1 cup of bleach to a regular-size wash load. Add 1¼ cup of bleach to an extra-large wash load. Add a half cup of bleach to a front-loading washing machine. Add bleach to the wash water prior to adding the laundry, or use a bleach dispenser on the washing machine.
- 3). Add 1 cup of white vinegar to laundry loads to eliminate odors, improve absorbency and reduce bacteria. Use vinegar in addition to laundry detergent.
- 4). Wash washcloths with a half cup of baking soda, which will freshen them and reduce bacteria and odors.
- 5). Shake washcloths firmly when you remove them from the washing machine and place them promptly into the dryer. Dry until they are completely dry.
