    • 1). Turn on your television and tune to the channel or input you use to view Comcast cable TV. Make sure your Comcast receiver box is turned on (unless it is a Motorola set-top box, in which case it should be turned off).

    • 2). Bring up the "User Settings" menu for your cable box by pressing "Menu" on either your remote control or the cable box itself. Some newer boxes may require you to tap "Menu" twice quickly to bring up the "User Settings" section or to select "Setup" from the initial menu.

    • 3). Select the "Closed Captioning" section of the menu by navigating to it with your remote's "up" and "down" arrow keys. Some boxes require you to press "Ok" or "Select" to enter the closed-captioning menu; others allow the setting to be changed with the "left" and "right" arrows.

    • 4). Use your remote's arrow keys to set "Closed Captioning" to "On" and confirm your selection by pressing "Ok" or "Select."

    • 5). Save your settings by pressing "Menu" and press "Menu" again to exit out of the "User Settings" section and return to TV viewing.
