Fun Ways to Use Cupcake Liners
- Use orange cupcake liners to transform an over-sized hooded sweatshirt into a goldfish Halloween costume for your toddler. Cut about 40 cupcake liners in half and hot glue them in an overlapping fashion to the hooded sweatshirt. Cut a ping pong ball in half with scissors and glue the halves to both sides of the hood to resemble fish eyes. Color in the iris of the eye using a black permanent marker. Complete the costume with orange tights or sweatpants.
- Create inexpensive cupcake liner garden lights for your next outdoor garden party. Start with a string of outdoor Christmas lights. LED lights work best for this project because they produce very little heat that could cause the paper liners to catch fire. Remove the bulbs from the strand of lights. Using a standard hole punch, create a small hole in the bottom of each cupcake liner. Insert the light sockets into the holes, and replace the bulbs. Turn off the garden lights when unattended.
- Use cupcake liners to create a festive wreath for all seasons. Begin with an 8-inch foam wreath found at your local craft store. Wrap the entire wreath with matching or contrasting ribbon so none of the foam is visible. Place just a bit of hot glue on one spot of the wreath and attach a cupcake liner that has been gathered up to look like a flower. Work your way around the foam wreath until the entire front side has been covered. Attach a ribbon to the back of the wreath for hanging.
- Transform a dull paper lantern into an interesting accent piece for your home by covering it with brightly colored cupcake liners. Start with a store-bought, 12-inch-diameter paper lantern and assemble it according to the manufacturer's directions. Place the assembled lantern upside-down in a large mixing bowl to stabilize it for decorating. Mix equal parts all-purpose glue with water and apply it with a medium-sized paintbrush to the bottom of each standard-sized cupcake liner. Quickly adhere the liner to the paper lantern. Continue the process until most of the lantern has been covered. Let the glue dry, then go back and fill in any holes with more cupcake liners. When the first layer is dry, attach mini cupcake liners to the insides of the standard cupcake liners using the same method. The mini liners will give your lantern a fuller, more interesting look.
