Bottom Line:
Rustie Blue returns with her fourth CD in four years called Stronger Than Steel. The CD is filled with songs that are good timin' country rockin' honky tonkin' fun. Couple that with some soft ballads that caress the heart, and how can you go wrong? This is one you don't want to miss!
Who is Rustie Blue?
So, you don't know the name Rustie Blue? Well pull up a chair my friend because you're about to be introduced to one of the hottest up and coming female country performers around.
Rustie Blue grew up in the rural south eastern Ohio town of Lancaster with her three brothers and sisters. While growing up, she spent many hours singing in her bedroom. Two of the biggest musical influences in her life are Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton.
Back in the early 1990's, Rustie made several trips to Nashville in search of a record deal. But unfortunately, there were no record deals to be found. However in hindsight, this turned out to be a blessing for Rustie. Back home in Ohio, it gave her time to find her own style of singing and stage presence.
Then a few years later in 1997, a man by the name of Robert Keister from Center Stage Productions saw her perform. He liked her voice, but said that she needed to work on interacting with the audience more. Well in time, she developed her stage presence and the audience loved her.
Nowadays, she can be found dancing down with the audience while she's performing. Back in 2000, Rustie released her debut CD called That Oughta Do It. The first single "I'm Dropping Tears" was a huge hit overseas.
In 2002, she released her follow-up CD entitled Enter At Your Own Risk and headed over seas for a promotional tour to places like Denmark, Belgium, Germany, and The Netherlands. In 2003, Rustie was on tour again, but this time it was in Australia and New Zealand.
The Songs:
2004 saw the release of her third CD Chip, Chip. The title track became the hit single and included guest vocals from country legend Bill Anderson. It won Vocal Collaboration Of The Year in 2005. A year later in 2006, she was standing on the Grand Ole Opry stage to accept an award for her duet with Bill.
Now here it is 2008, and Rustie is back with her 4th CD Stronger Than Steel. It's 13 tracks of serious cowgirl country. It includes the bonus track of "Chip, Chip" that she recorded with Bill Anderson. The other 12 tracks are a showcase to what a true talent Rustie Blue has become over the years. She co-wrote the title track and "Cowgirls Do It Better." It's an up tempo song that takes a humorous look at the romantic world of men and women.
She duets with the CD's producer Willie Mack on the title track "Stronger Than Steel" and "It Hurts Like Love." The first track is "Fall In The First Place" and was co-written by Terri Clark.
The song "One Hot Summer Ago" is a ballad that looks back to that first love when it was innocent and perfect, or so it seemed at the time. Stronger Than Steel is a solid country album that can stand on it's own against any of the major performers of today. If you like your country music fun and with a little attitude, then you will love Rustie Blue's latest CD Stronger Than Steel.
