If your an avid exercise enthusiast that participates in a workout routine to gain weight and build muscle mass, bravo to you.
Sad that the rest of society could care less how they look or feel.
And if you're one that is reading this article, it obviously means your an investigative individual that does a lot of reading on the matter of weight training.
Saying that, I'm sure you've many articles and have heard many people making carbohydrates public enemy number one.
It used to be that only those trying to lose weight and burn body fat fast were the only ones concerned with lowering the sugar intake in their diets.
But now that same type of incorrect nutritional philosophy seems to be negatively influencing those on the other end of the physique-enhancing fence...
those looking to build muscle mass.
A major misconception out now is that carbs can make you fat because, as many claim, your body stores all carbs as bodyfat when the muscles and the liver are already full of glycogen and that the insulin spike that allegedly results from eating carbohydrates can stimulate the body to store body fat.
"Wow" is what I have to say to this type of thinking.
First off, yes, when the carb stores in your body top off, excess after that can result in body fat storage.
However, this doesn't just happen with carbs.
It happens also with protein and fats! In all reality, it's about calories.
Regardless of what type of calories you're eating, carbs or not, anything above and beyond what your body uses and needs to recover, repair, grow muscle, and store within lean tissue is going to turn into body fat.
That includes protein and fat.
Second, carbs aren't the only type of calorie that causes an insulin rush within the blood.
As a matter of fact, there are many types of protein that cause a higher rise in insulin levels than certain carbs.
Plus, no one eats just carbs by themselves.
99 percent of the time they are also accompanied by by some of protein and / or fat, which will affect the insulin rise.
Besides, spiking insulin levels isn't bad all the time.
So, the carb phobia has got to stop.
If you are looking to enhance your workout routine and build more muscle mass, don't avoid carbs!
