    • 1). Focus on keeping your resume neat and clear. Choose a legible 12-point font that's easy on the eyes like Times New Roman or Arial. At the top right-hand corner of your resume, type your full name. Under your name, include a phone number where you can be reached and an alternate phone number underneath that one, in case you don't answer the first call. Leave an email address underneath the alternate phone number. Ensure it's an appropriate address that has your name somewhere within it -- avoid addresses like cuteandsmart@email.com. You can create an email address that's specifically for job searches.

    • 2). Write a brief objective statement about yourself and why you want the job for which you're applying. Mention how you can be an asset to the employer's company and what skills you have to offer. Include attributes you have like leadership or organizational skills that would highlight your ability to work in a team environment or with little supervision.

    • 3). Title the next section of your resume "Skills and Abilities." Write a list of skills you have and where you learned them. Include activities you participate in like community service, clubs you're in, sports teams you're on or awards you have won at school. Mention whether you were given any responsibilities in these groups to highlight that you're reliable and can be depended on.

    • 4). Title the following section of your resume "Education." Make a list of schools you have attended and any diplomas or certificates received. Include any specific courses you have taken that relate to the job you're applying for. Mention any awards received in school or if you graduated with honors.
