How to Decorate Small Clay Pots
- 1). Decoupage the small clay pot. This crafting technique consists of cutting out patterns or pictures on paper and gluing them to a surface. Choose your patterns and attach them to the pot using decoupage glue. Once the glue has dried, seal in the pictures by applying a layer of the glue over the entire pot using a paint brush. Allow the layer to dry and repeat this process at least three times to form an adequate seal.
- 2). Paint your small, clay pot with acrylic craft paint. Decorating a pot in this way can be an enjoyable craft for children as well as adults. Paint designs or pictures in and around the entire pot. Depending on how detailed the picture is, keep brushes of varying sizes on hand.
- 3). Form a mosaic design on the pot. To make the mosaic, use beads, round glass stones, smooth pebbles or other small objects. Glue each object to the pot one at a time. Form a pattern by placing the objects as close together as possible until the entire surface of the small clay pot is covered.
- 4). Decorate the pot with craft items such as buttons, ribbons and glitter. Glue the items around the pot, forming a pattern or picture.
- 5). Draw patterns on the pots using colored permanent markers. Markers provide an option for those who are good at drawing but might not be as comfortable with painting.
