    Removing wet paint

    • 1). Rinse the paint stain on the jeans in cold running water. A laundry tub is a good choice for this, as you don't want the paint to stain a sink in the kitchen or bathroom. Remove as much paint as possible this way.

    • 2). Put a stopper in the laundry tub. Add in a capful of stain-fighting or heavy-duty detergent. Fill the tub with water and let the jeans soak in the water for 30 minutes.

    • 3). After 30 minutes remove the jeans from the laundry tub and place in the washing machine. Run the machine on a heavy-duty cycle with cool water and a capful of heavy-duty or stain-fighting laundry detergent. After the washing machine cycles through, check the jeans for any remaining paint stain. If paint remains, repeat the laundering process.

    Removing dried paint

    • 1). Put on your rubber gloves. Put some paper towels or absorbent rags underneath the stain. Insert the paper towels or rags in the jeans leg under the stain to prevent the stain from transferring to the back fabric of the leg.

    • 2). Douse the stain with rubbing alcohol and let it sit for a few minutes. It will begin to loosen and soften the dried paint. Make sure you have enough paper towels or absorbent rags underneath the paint.

    • 3). Scrape away the loosened paint with a scraper or butter knife. This will remove much of the stain.

    • 4). Apply more rubbing alcohol to the stain and blot up the liquid with paper towels. Repeat the blotting process until most of the old paint is removed.

    • 5). Put the jeans in the washing machine and wash on warm with heavy-duty or stain-fighting detergent. If any stain remains after the wash cycle, run through the washer again.
