Graduation Themed Food Ideas
- For a kindergarten graduation party, try plates of finger foods with goodies such as cheese made into the shape of a diploma. You will need some type of sandwich meat, Swiss or provolone cheese, scallions and a bell pepper. For the preparation of each cheese diploma, stack a slice of meat on top of a slice of cheese and roll them up. Tie a scallion around the diploma. Decorate the tray with diced-up scallions and bell pepper for a confetti look.
- Whether it be a kindergarten, high school or college graduation, a diploma-shaped cake is ideal for any commencement party. Bake a cake from scratch or use a store-bought mix. When the cake is thoroughly cooked, place it on a towel sprinkled with confectioner's sugar and roll it into a diploma shape. After the cake is cooled, unroll it and spread jelly inside and roll the cake again. Make a frosting of cream cheese, butter, confectioner's sugar and vanilla extract and spread it onto the cake. Use decorator's gel to spell out the class year.
- Another diploma-shaped treat involves chicken and flour tortillas. For this recipe, use shredded chicken tossed in a mixture of 2 tablespoons of hot sauce, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 tablespoon of melted butter, and a sprinkle of pepper and cayenne pepper. Fold a combination of 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt, pepper, 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 1/2 cup of crumbled blue cheese into the chicken mixture. Lay your tortillas flat and fold in your chicken and cheese mixture with shredded lettuce and celery. Wrap blue ribbons around to hold the tortilla together.
- For a graduation treat in honor of your wise scholar, make a simple chocolate cake topped with an owl decoration made out of edible parts. Make the owl's eyes from candied pineapple rings and place chocolate-covered peanuts or malted milk balls in the middle. Create the owl's body on the cake by using vanilla frosting, and make his wings and the top of his head by using chocolate. For the owl's plumage, arrange sliced almonds to look like feathers. Place a walnut in the middle of the owl's face for a nose.
