How to Install Washer and Dryer Plumbing
- 1). Locate the water supply hoses that connect to the back of the washing machine, usually toward the top.
- 2). Inspect the ports to which the hoses are attached to determine which is the hot and which is the cold. The ports are usually labeled hot and cold or "H" and "C."
- 3). Connect the fitting at the end of the cold water supply hose to the threads on the rightmost of the two shutoff valves. Turn the fitting clockwise by hand to ensure it threads on without becoming cross-threaded. Tighten the fitting using a pair of slip-joint pliers.
- 4). Attach the fitting at the end of the hot water supply hose to the threads of the other shutoff valve, which is the hot. Connect it the same way as you did with the cold water hose.
- 5). Hang the washing machine's drain hose onto the side of the stationary tub. Turn on the water supply by turning the handles or knobs on the shutoff valves completely counterclockwise.
