- 1). Insert your PlayStation 1-style memory card into the memory card slot above the "Controller 1" port on the front of your PlayStation 2. The side of the memory card with the "Sony PlayStation" logo should be facing up.
- 2). Turn on your PlayStation 2 without a game inside the console to load the console's main menu. If a game is present in the console, press "Eject" and remove it.
- 3). Select the "Memory Card" option from the PlayStation 2 menu.
- 4). Select the icon on screen that represents your PlayStation 1-style memory card. If the PS1 memory card is the only card inserted into the console, this will be the only icon that appears on screen.
- 5). Choose the "Format" option from the list of options on screen. Select "Yes" to format your PlayStation 1-style memory card using your PlayStation 2.
