    Fabric Headboard

    • 1). Measure the width of your bed and decide the height you wish for the headboard.

    • 2). Cut the sheet insulation to the necessary measurements and the desired shape using the utility knife.

    • 3). Lay out your fabric on the floor with the right side down. Center the quilt batting on top. Place the sheet insulation on top of the batting.

    • 4). Trim the fabric so that it measures six inches larger than the sheet insulation. Pull the fabric to the back of the insulation and apply foam board adhesive to hold it in place.

    • 5). Measure on the back of the headboard and the wall about two feet apart between each mount. Screw the mounts onto the wall and the slides onto the headboard. Attach the the headboard to the wall by sliding the mount pieces together.

    Canopy

    • 1). Measure the canopy frame and add one inch all the way around. Cut fabric to this measurement. Depending on the width of the canopy and the width of your fabric, you may need to sew two pieces of fabric together.

    • 2). Measure the distance all the way around the posts of the bed and double it. Cut enough 10-inch wide strips and sew them together to get the necessary length for a ruffle.

    • 3). Turn the fabric under ½ inch and again another ½ inch to hem the bottom edge of the ruffle. Pin to hold the hem in place.

    • 4). Sew a gathering stitch to the top edge of the ruffle, cutting the ends of the threads about eight inches long. Pin the ruffle to the canopy with the right sides together, matching up the raw edges. Pull the gathering threads to make the ruffle fit the top of the canopy.

    • 5). Sew to attach the two pieces together.

    • 6). Cut eight strips of fabric measuring four inches by 10 inches long. Fold the strips in half lengthwise and sew on the long side. Turn them right-side out and sew two to the inside of each corner of the canopy.

    • 7). Attach the canopy to the frame by tying the four corners to the posts of the bed or around the canopy frame.
