- 1). Open the native Remote Desktop Connection application by clicking on its icon in the "Accessories" folder of your "Start" menu.
- 2). Type the name of the computer you want to connect to into the "Computer Name" box. To find out the name of a computer if you don't already know it, go to the actual computer and right click on "My Computer." Click "Properties." The computer name will be listed on screen.
- 3). Click "Connect." A new window will open on your monitor that represents the desktop of the computer you are remotely connected to.
- 4). Right click the "Start" bar.
- 5). Click "Task Manager" to start the Windows Task Manager from within your remote desktop session.
