Video: How to Finish Panel Christmas Ornaments
Video Transcript
today I'm showing you how to make a Christmas tree ornaments out of fabric. So now our little ornament is stuffed and see how cute that is. It is kind of like a little halo it is very cute. Now what I'm going to do is remember that we stitched all the way/half way up to the along the edge so now what I'm going to do is cut my ribbon. However, long I think I'm going to want it and I'm going to go ahead and put it in there that seems like a good length. You are just going to go ahead and stick it inside at the half way point. Cause now what we are going to do is stitch the top close with just a regular top stitch. So go ahead and do that and that is going to hold to the ribbon. We are going to sew right over the ribbon and this is going to accomplish 2 things. It is going to keep our ribbon in place and it is going to also do the closing. So to do a top stitch you just need your sewing machine again and you need to do a very very simple stitch. I'm going to turn on my machine, I'm going to go ahead and set it to what I want. Let's see what stitch I have going here. It is set to a straight stitch which is perfect so I'm going to cut that like that. Turn that off. So now you are just going to hold the ribbon in place along with the edge which you have turned inside like that. Holding it along the edge and go ahead and put it under your needle. Put the foot down and just start with your stitch. Now remember you want to create a knot to go back one step when you are doing a straight stitch. You don't need to do that with a zig zag stitch but you need to with a straight stitch. When you get to the end you go back again and we are going to take this off, cut it, trim off the threads, don't cut your string. Like I almost just did. So now your little ornament is all closed up, it is very cute little ornament of baby Jesus and it is a cute little gift and a fun little project to do with your kids.
