Honeybee Gifts
- For a honeybee lover, consider a theme-related gift for around the home. Purchase a picture frame decorated with honeybees, pottery painted with honeybees, a honey-pot cookie jar or honeybee art prints. Craft-minded gift givers can make a set of beeswax candles, ranging from short pillar candles to tall candlesticks. To make the candles, place a warm rectangular sheet of honeycomb beeswax on a piece of wax paper. Place a piece of wick along one of the short ends and fold the beeswax over the wick tightly. Roll the beeswax slowly, being careful not to break the beeswax. Once the entire rectangle has been rolled, press the edges against the rolled candle to hold it in place. Trim the wick and dip it into a little bit of melted beeswax.
- Consider a novelty honeybee gift for a teenager or adult. Novelty items include key chains, kitchen aprons, sterling silver or gemstone pendants or "Bee on time" watches and bracelets. Other options include natural honey-based products, such as natural honey soap or lip balm. To customize a gift for a honeybee fanatic, consider a coffee mug, t-shirt, canvas tote bag or baseball cap with a personalized message from the gift giver. For a special woman, consider a queen bee novelty gift, such as wine glasses or votive candle holders with a queen bee insignia.
- To access their hearts through their stomachs, purchase or make some honey-based treats. Consider a jar of pure honey from a honeybee farm or a jar of creamed flavored honey. For a homemade gift, prepare a honey cake, a jar of honey chocolate sauce or some honey almond chews. For a child, make a batch of sugar cookies and cut the dough into shapes using a honeybee-shaped cookie cutter. Insert a wooden skewer into each cookie and bake. When the cookies cool, decorate the cookies with black and yellow royal icing and wrap each cookie with cellophane wrap. Tie the wrap closed with a black and yellow ribbon and place the bouquet of cookies into a plastic or ceramic honeybee flowerpot.
- For a child with a fascination for honeybees, consider purchasing gifts, such as age-appropriate honeybee jigsaw puzzles, posters for a bedroom wall, stickers, coloring books and miniature figurines. For a custom-made gift, consider making a honeybee stuffed animal to give the child a friend for life. To make the stuffed friend, use a honeybee pattern to cut the fabric pieces from black and yellow fabric. Sew the pieces together with the wrong sides of the fabric facing outward. Leave a small area open to reach in and turn the honeybee fabric right side out. Fill it with cotton batting. Sew the last piece together and add felt circles to give the honeybee eyes and a nose.
