    • 1). Assess your current lighting and determine which light fixtures need to be replaced. You will need to replace all broken or nonfunctional light fixtures. Outdated fixtures will also need to be replaced. Some old styles include brass colored fixtures, aged green verde color, and Hollywood style bathroom light fixtures.

    • 2). Kitchen: Consider installing a kitchen or dinette pot rack style light fixture. Popular finishes are black wrought iron or brushed stainless steel.

    • 3). Entryway: The entryway should have a dramatic chandelier that sets the tone for the entire house. Traditional styles are best with dark metal finishes with tinted glass globes (not clear or white).

    • 4). Coordinate: Try to coordinate all of your light fixtures by using the same metal tone and glass colors. It is not necessary to buy light fixtures all from the same style line and manufacturer.

    • 5). Dining Room: Again, a dramatic chandelier similar to the entryway chandelier would be appropriate for this room.

    • 6). Bathroom: Remove all Hollywood type fixtures and replace with 3 or 4 light vanity fixture in a similar style to the rest of the house.

    • 7). Other places to add new lighting include above a pool table or a game table, sconces in a hallway to brighten a long hall, ceiling fans with light fixtures in bedrooms and on back outdoor patios.
