- 1). Advise the library you are leaving you wish to close your account. Return all borrowed materials from your previous library. This will ensure you will not incur any debts from your old library.
- 2). Visit the library located in the new county where you reside. Most libraries extend free membership to their county residents.
- 3). Show your photo ID. Your photo ID needs to prove that you reside in the same county as the library in which you are requesting membership. However, if your ID does not show this address, you can present a utility bill, voter registration or a printed check documenting your current address.
- 4). Receive your new library card.
