Grandma"s Haunted Barn
It was late in the afternoon when she brought me cookies in the barn. I sat down on some hay bales and started munching on my cookies, enjoying the coolness of the shade in the barn.
Then I heard a squeaking sound somewhere in the front of the barn. It sounded like a squeaking door opening and closing, but the door wasn't moving at all. Thinking I just imagined the sound, I finished eating my cookies.
But then it happened again... and again. The sounds were becoming louder and more frequent. All of a sudden, the door opened and slammed shut, and for a few minutes after that there was no sound at all. It seemed that it got very cold in the barn, and scared as I was I could not make myself walk to the door and leave.
Then from the corner of my eye I saw some hay twirl around in the air, even though there definitely was no wind in the barn. I sat still and waited, but all seemed quiet and nothing moved and nothing happened.
I slowly walked toward the door. When I was half way, it felt as if someone was breathing down my neck and I heard a quiet whisper in my ear say, "Get out of my barn."
I ran out the door and into the house where I told my grandma. She went out to check, but heard and saw nothing.
I never went back into the barn again.
