WHAT- Hormonal imbalance in men means when important hormones like testosterone, estrogen, prolactin or gonadotropin become unregulated and disrupt some basic day to day activities and bodily functions in men. Testosterone accounts for facial hair, sperm production, and maintenance of body and muscle, among other manly features, while estrogen is more of a female hormone and thus excess will lead to breast enlargement in men. Prolactin can cause lower sexual activity and gonadotropin deficiency and ultimately result in low or no sperm count.

Although, on an average, hormones in men can become unregulated around the age of 40 in some, 50 is more common and if it happens any time after 70, then you've had a good life! Male menopause and age is what can trigger irregularity in men at the later stage of their lives while thyroid gland can result in imbalance at younger age.
