    • 1). Click "Start," type "computer management" and press "Enter" when the link appears.

    • 2). Click "Disk Management" on the left.

    • 3). Right-click your main drive and click "Shrink Volume." Change the "amount of space to shrink" the volume by to the figure needed for your operating system, plus a little extra. For example if a Linux distribution needs 300000 MB, shrink the volume by 350000. Click "Shrink." Once the shrinking is complete, you can install your new operating system to this new partition ready for the dual-boot.
