How to Dust Florals
- 1). Remove fine layers of dust from your floral arrangements using a feather duster. Wave the feathered ends of the duster over each of the flower parts to remove dust.
- 2). Blow heavier layers of dust from your flower arrangement using a hairdryer set to a low heat setting. Place the floral arrangement in a large paper bag to contain the dust as you wave the hairdryer over the arrangement.
- 3). Mix a 50/50 solution of isopropyl alcohol and water in a clean spray bottle. Spray the floral arrangement with the alcohol mixture to dissolve all traces of dust. Allow the arrangement to air dry.
- 4). Pour 1 cup of salt into a paper bag. Place the floral arrangement in the bag. Fold the top of the bag over itself several times to contain the salt and give the bag a few vigorous shakes. The salt granules will help remove dust from your florals.
- 5). Wash plastic and silks in a bath of cool water and a squirt of lemon dish soap if they are covered with a thick, greasy layer of dust. Swish the flowers around in the water until the dust dissolves. Lay the flowers on a clean towel to air dry.
