Cholesterol Is Essential to Testosterone Levels

Testosterone is a steroid that falls within the androgen hormone family group and it is naturally produced in the body - in the testes.
When the hypothalamus in the brain detects there is insufficient testosterone in our blood-stream it directs the pituitary gland to force the testicles to produce more androgenic hormones including testosterone.
As a normal part of this process, most of it bound to proteins that make the hormones soluble in blood so that they can be distributed around the body and also to protect them from being broken down when the blood flows through the liver and kidneys.
Only the smallest percentage of this newly produced testosterone is available for use by the body to affect the physiology by growing more muscle mass and sex drive.
In fact there is usually less than 4% of the total testosterone count in our blood that is not bound to proteins and is free for use to meet our body's needs and to deal with stresses.
When we do intense, muscle burning exercise, this stimulates the release of hormones from the proteins they are bound to and this "top-up" free testosterone is now available to deal with the need for our body to grow bigger muscles.
Because cholesterol is the raw material from which androgenic hormones are made, it is essential that we monitor our diet carefully, and if we do want increased levels of testosterone then it is smart to add a testosterone boosting supplement to our daily intake of multi-vitamins.
With the right supplements, diet and some bursts of intense and muscle burning weight training, we can significantly alter the level of androgenic hormones that are released from their bound proteins so they can be used to flow freely through our bodies to do their good work.
We need cholesterol in our diet as we cannot produce testosterone without it.
