How to Maintain Anodized Aluminum
- 1). Clean the anodized aluminum often, especially when it appears on boats and cookware. Wash the metal with hot or warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth. This will prevent any materials from settling on the aluminum, potentially damaging the surface.
- 2). Rinse the aluminum completely with fresh water after cleaning. Leaving any cleaning products on the surface could create streaking, among other problems, on the metal's surface.
- 3). Protect the surface of the aluminum if you do not use it for food. Apply a metal protection product specifically marked for use on anodized metal. This will prevent the metal, especially if it is outdoors, from staining and mineral deposits.
