Tempting Indulgences

What are tempting indulgences? Well let me share with you what they are. As with nutrition and eating healthy so our bodies can function normally as by God's design, we are often tempted by those "not so good" foods and drinks.

Say what? You all know what I am talking about, we all experience these "cravings" for sweets or drinks, like that nice chocolate covered cherry, powdered donut, apple pie, cake, ice cream, and others such as alcohol, soda, and coffee, etc.

Is this normal? Yes it is normal, especially with watching what we put into our mouths. When a person does without something for awhile, they start to crave it. I do...especially chocolate covered cherries, Ben and Jerry's peanut butter and chocolate ice cream, coffee and the occasional cold beer.

Why does this happen? As a society, pretty much this all started as children, we grow up with sweets, drinks...basically "bad stuff" that back then, no one thought about it as being bad.

How do we obtain these? Through family gatherings, church picnics, holidays, etc. We live in a society, in the United States of America where obesity is higher than any other country, and health problems are at an all time high.

So how do we deal with the tempting indulgences? For myself, I struggle with this and so from time to time, I will allow an indulgence, not on a regular basis as I have seen and experienced the consequences of what happens to my body.

Every day is one step at a time. Know your limits, know your body, and remember it is a personal choice if you choose that got to have tempting indulgence.

It is an ongoing battle for many of us, but as long as we are willing to change our eating style by being healthy and choosing wisely, within time you will begin to lose the desire for it. For me, I used to drink a pot of coffee a day, now a couple of times a week I will have maybe one or two cups and that is all I can "stomach".

The other thing you will notice is when you eat or drink a "bad food", you won't like the taste, your body doesn't feel right, it feels heavy and you feel like "crap".

When a person eats a healthy food, they feel energized, refreshed, whole and light and want more of the good food.

From my own personal experience I have felt both ways and am constantly amazed at how the body talks to me.

In order for our bodies to be able to differ between the "good food" and the "bad food", they need to be functioning at their optimum best. When the body is not functioning properly, we usually don't notice.

I have noticed how my body responds now compared to a couple of years ago and that is all because I took a leap of faith and started seeing a holistic chiropractor and boy was I amazed and became a believer in Holistic Medicine.
