Setting Up Default Margins in Excel
- 1). Open the Excel application to a blank worksheet. Click the "Page Layout" tab at the top of the window.
- 2). Click the down arrow under "Margins" in the Page Setup section. Select "Custom Margins," which opens the Page Setup dialog box.
- 3). Select the "Margins" tab. Click the "up" or "down" arrows next to each margin that you wish to change. For example, if you want more space at the top of a document, press the "up" arrow under "Top," increasing the size of the margin. Click the "OK" button after all margin adjustments are made, closing the dialog box.
- 4). Click the "Save" icon, which looks like a floppy disk, at the top of Excel, opening the Save As dialog box. Type the following title in the "File Name" field: "Worksheet with Default Margins." Click the drop-down menu next to "Save as Type." Choose "Excel Template." Click the "Save" button to close the dialog box. This completes the process of setting up the default margins in Excel.
- 5). Click on the "Microsoft Office" orb logo in the top left corner of the window, when you are ready to use Excel with your preferred margin settings. Select "New" from the menu, opening a dialog box. Click on "My Templates" in the left pane, opening another dialog box. Double-click on "Worksheet with Default Margins" to open a blank worksheet document with your default margins.
