How to Change the Blade on a Toro Lawnmower
- 1). Check that the gasoline cap is on tightly. Disconnect the spark-plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Tip the Toro lawn mower onto its side so the air filter faces up, away from the ground.
- 2). Remove the two blade nuts with a wrench, and secure the blade stiffener in place. Pull the blade directly toward you to remove it.
- 3). Install the new or resharpened blade by threading the holes in the blade onto the blade bolts protruding from beneath the mower housing. Attach the blade stiffener, then thread the nuts onto the bolts.
- 4). Tighten the nuts hand-tight, making sure the blade stiffener is firmly seated against the blade. Torque the blade nuts to 15 to 27 pounds/feet of torque each, using a torque wrench. Verify that each nut is properly torqued.
- 5). Turn the mower right-side up, and wipe up any spilled gasoline.
