Marvelous Tiny Fisher Price Doll Accessories: Formational Suggestions
When setting up your dollhouse and buying furniture you will need to remember the three sizing constraints. Here are the sizing elements, there are three: Miniature scales, size of room dimensions, and comparative size. Miniature scaling refers to the fact that dolls and their furniture come in different sizing patterns. Meaning that if you have a half inch dollhouse that you need to purchase half inch dollhouse furniture. Size element is the second point, and this is as simple as making sure that your furniture will actually fit in the room. Make sure that you measure your furniture room and are aware of the dimensions of the furniture that you buy. The last point is relative size; this means that within a room you can coordinate the pieces. Smaller pieces will get less attention than other pieces, and the larger pieces should be the ones that you want everyone to look at.
Floor Trim for your Dollhouse
As you are building and tweaking your dollhouse you will discover some great time saving secrets. In my last dollhouse building adventure I came across something that I know helped out my interior look tremendously. This big discovery was floor trim. Floor Trim is not a new creation, but what I found is instead of buying it, to use a very thin balsa wood found in most craft stores. Simply paint it the color of your dollhouse and attach it to the foot of your walls. My biggest discovery is when the trim hid most of the fine mistakes between the floor and the wall. The wallpaper walls were also trimmed and I was really happy to see that it prevented fraying due to covering the edges. I realize that this little invention, though not my own, really made my flooring look flush and neat against the wall.
Accessorizing with Fabrics
Dollhouses contain an enormous potential for miniaturists and hobbyists alike. For instance the amount of detail that is available to you is mesmerizing. One example is fabrics within a dollhouse. If you are looking for an example, or maybe a good starting point then I would recommend the bedroom. Everything from curtains and pillows, to mattresses and blankets can be created and made to fit. In addition to the bedroom just think of the dinning room rug, curtains, and even napkins After the dining room you go to the bathroom and do some his and her towels, or even a floor mat. As I stated before, it is endless, so enjoy the possibilities
Designing by Mood
The mood of the room should be a designers motivation and no other, it is the mood that dictates color and furniture, and not the other way around. Each room has a mood, meaning that there are some underlying purposes for which you would have that room. An example is that you would have a kitchen to eat, have conversation, relax, cook etc. A bedroom would have a personal setting to illustrate the mood of that individual and help them feel comfortable. Those dollhouses that are awe inspiring tap into the settings and mood of each room to design it. To tap into your mood settings, think about the purpose of the room, why it is their, and what designs, colors, furniture, would better suit that mood. When you tap into the mood you will know it, and the design of the room will just fall in place as if it was meant to be there all along.
