    Party Setup

    • Bunco is designed to be played by 12 players. You need to set up three tables, each with four chairs, in order to play Bunco. Each tables gets three dice, two pencils and two legal pads for player scoring. One table should be designated as the "head table." A bell and a pair of fuzzy dice should be placed at this table. You also need 12 score sheets (separate from the legal pads). Draw a star on four of the sheets. The players who receive the starred sheets sit at the head table. Be sure to decorate the party area with Halloween-themed decorations, such as fake spiderwebs and rubber bats.

    Rules of the Game

    • The players play in three groups of four, with two of the members in each group rolling against the opposing two players. The players play the game in four sets with six rounds per set. Each round, players must roll three dice, attempting to get a specific number on each die. Each players gets three rolls.

The target number corresponds to the round, so in Round 1, one is the target, in Round 2, two is the target and so on. Players get one point for every die that turns up the target number. If all three dice show the target, the players yells out "Bunco!" and gets 21 points. If all three dice show the same number, but it is not the target, then they get five points.

Rules of the Game - Part 2

    • A round ends only when a player at the head table rolls a Bunco. He must ring the bell to signal the end; however if a player at another table has not completed three rolls, she is allowed to do so. The team with the most points at each table wins the round. Each team uses the legal pads to keep team scores. Each player keeps their own scores on the individual score sheets. If there is a tie between teams, then there must be a roll-off. For a roll-off, players play an extra round with the fuzzy dice to get the target number; the team that hits the target the most breaks the tie.

    Halloween-Themed Bunco Rules

    • Instead of having players yell "Bunco," you can instruct them to howl or scream when they get three-in-a-row. There also is an actual rule in traditional Bunco called the "ghost player rule." This rule is used when there is an odd number of players. The ghost player makes the teams even. The other players take turns rolling for the ghost player, whose score is kept just like a real player. Also, the player who rolls the most Buncos or gets the most points usually gets a prize. This prize can be something Halloween-themed, such as a bag of Halloween candy.

    Other Party Ideas

    • Tell guests to dress up in costumes. Food is traditionally served between rounds two and three. Serve Halloween-themed foods such as a brain-shaped gelatin mold and bat-shaped sandwiches. Lastly, place a Halloween candle or other creepy decoration on each table.
