- The Canon PowerShot A1000 IS replaces the A580 and is a compact digital camera. Incorporating a range of technologies, the Canon PowerShot A1000 is designed for ease of use. Easy mode is just one of 17 different shooting modes from which to select, which makes the camera ideal for beginning photographers.
- The Canon PowerShot A1000 is equipped with an image stabilizer (IS) that uses a lens shift-type system to detect and correct image blurring camera shakes. Lens tilting caused by shaky hands is detected by minute vibration gyros. A single-chip IS controller processes these signals at 4,000 per second and discriminates between unintentional camera movements and hand shakes. The lens elements are moved according to the signal sent to the IS unit, which deflects the light rays and cancels the shake effects.
- The Digital Imaging Core (DIGIC) processor of the Canon PowerShot A1000 manages primary camera functions to create optimal operating efficiency. Extended continuous shooting ability, outstanding responsiveness and rapid auto focus are all results of the high-speed capabilities of the PowerShot A1000. Another feature of the A1000 is the "Intelligent Scene Analysis based on Photographic Space" (iSAPS) technology that automatically optimizes camera settings prior to every photograph. By cross-referencing and analyzing the image and comparing it with an in-camera photographic data library, the A1000 adjusts the auto focus, auto white balance and auto exposure before the image is even captured.
- The Canon PowerShot A1000 is equipped with a 10.0 megapixel resolution and a 4x optical zoom. The optical viewfinder and 2.5-inch LCD screen are additional features of the A1000. Use of the A1000 is simplified with the easy mode and the easy playback mode. The A1000 is also equipped with a print/share button to allow for direct downloading and printing. The ID photo print and the movie print features are compatible with SELPHY Compact Photo Printers and PIXMA Photo Printers.
