Uniforms in sports are never meaningless or imposed forcibly, rather every sports uniform has some purpose. Players are expected to wear a uniform for their own welfare, as a comfortable and right proportioned outfit will never hinder your performance or flexible moves of your body. In fact uniforms facilitate more comfortable moves that is why every sport has its distinct dress code. Similarly baseball uniforms too are meant to facilitate the free movements of arms and legs. There were times, when baseball players used to wear ordinary pants and shirts and even jerseys with jeans. The purpose of wearing jeans was that these were normally snug, but failed to provide any protection against perspiration in hot weather. On the other hand, pants were more comfortable in hot weather, but due to they being a little loose were hindering proper running, bending and other quick movements. These problems expressed the need for original basketball uniforms, what we wear today. Obviously, these are meant to solve all the above mentionend purposes of the baseball players.
Contemporary basketball uniforms include a cotton or polyester shirt with sleeves which are not so long and not so short. Sometimes players prefer to wear half sleeves, but still full sleeves are believed to be the best. Sleeves should not be below the wrists and loose enough so that they ease up various arm movements. Similarly baseball pants are also supposed to be long down to ankles and not beyond that. Caps and visors have also become the necessary part of baseball uniforms as these are meant for protecting eyes from sunshine and for concentrating upon ball. To differentiate among the two teams, caps and shirts carry the same color, especially some dark but non-vibrant color. Florescent colors are hardly used in baseball uniforms, as this is the outdoor sport and players need to concentrate upon ball whereas bright colors can distract the attention.
The three basic qualities, which right baseball uniforms should possess, are as follows:

Gentle fabric: Normally, baseball uniforms are snug and as the fabric has to remain close to your skin, the touch needs to be gentle. That's why most of the baseball uniforms use soft materials like polyester and polycotton for elite look and comfort together.

Measurements: Measurements play major role in both good performance as well as bad. If sleeve length of shirts is below the wrists players will remain busy in pulling up sleeves rather than giving their full attention to the game. Similarly, if pants are a little loose or are long that they touch your show laces they are more likely to fall while running. That is why designers prefer snug baseball uniforms with right lengths to make it comfortable for the player.

Ventilation: Every sportswear is required to be body-moisture absorbent as well as allow sufficient ventilation. With baseball uniforms being snug they fail to provide adequate ventilation; that is why baseball uniforms should be made of light weight stuff.
