- 1). Empty your closet completely and remove existing fixtures.
- 2). Use spackling paste to fill any holes in the closet walls. After the spackling paste dries, sand that portion of the wall until it is smooth. Wipe with a damp cloth.
- 3). With a tape measure, find the dimensions of your closet and use a pencil to mark spots for screws and other hardware.
- 4). Mount the hanging rails. These rails telescope to accommodate different closet widths. If you are attaching the rails to studs, drill 1/8-inch pilot holes. If you are attaching the rails to the dry wall, drill a 3/8-inch hole. Hammer the anchor into the hole and engage the anchor with the anchor key.
- 5). Screw the hanging rail into the wall, beginning on the left side of your closet. Begin with two screws placed no more than 24 inches apart.
- 6). Insert the second hanging rail behind the first. Approach from above. Extend this hanging rail to the right side of the closet and adjust the length so that the screw holes of both rails are aligned.
- 7). Install two screws, either into the stud or the dry wall, on the right side of your closet. Follow the same procedure as for the screws on the left-hand side. These screws should be placed no more than 24 inches apart.
- 8). Install screws along the length of the hanging rails. The bulk of the process is now complete.
- 9). Hang the uprights. The top of the uprights fits over the hanging rail and does not need to be screwed into the wall. Screw the bottom of the uprights into the wall following the same procedure as for the hanging rails.

Place the brackets into the uprights. The brackets will support your shelves and clothes rods. Begin at the top of the uprights and work down. You can choose how far apart you want to place the brackets according to your storage needs, and they are easily adjustable if your first idea does not work. - 11
Place the shelves on the brackets and lock them into place. - 12
Place the clothes rods on the brackets. Press down firmly on the rod to lock it into the bracket.
