How to Recognize Side-Effects From Prednisone
- 1). Watch for weight gain and increased appetite. These are common, and usually harmless, side effects. Hand-in-hand with weight gain is restlessness and potential indigestion.
- 2). Note any sweating and flushing of the face, a feeling of warmth or a sensation of a hot flash. These side effects may cause problems, but are not particularly dangerous.
- 3). Be on guard for severe mood swings and severe depression. If they begin, call the doctor, but never stop Prednisone on your own.
- 4). Watch for an allergic, or anaphylactic, reaction. Be aware of shortness of breath, swelling of the mouth, swelling of the lips or hives. If they start, immediately call an ambulance. An anaphylactic reaction can be fatal.
