How to Run Wire Through Conduit
- 1). Unwind several feet of fish tape off its reel and insert the tip into the opening at the end of the conduit pipe. Push the fish tape slowly but continuously into the pipe until the tip goes through the end of the pipe. If the fish tape stops, pull it back a little and try pushing it again.
- 2). Grab the tip of the fish tape once it goes through the other end. Pull it out by about a foot. Tie a nylon rope at the tip of the fish tape and pull the fish tape, along with the rope, back through the conduit.
- 3). Pull the fish tape completely out of the pipe and untie the rope from its tip. Tie the rope to the end of the electrical wire and wrap the knot with electrical tape. Pull the electrical wire through the pipe by pulling the rope from the other end of the pipe.
- 4). Grab the electrical wire as soon as it is visible at the other end. Pull it out by about a foot. Cut the wire at the opposite end to proceed with your work.
