What" s The One Problem With Fitted Bedrooms Showrooms?

There are a number of showrooms offering outstanding fitted bedrooms in Manchester, one of the UK's leading cities for interior design and home furniture today. But there is a problem. Because whilst many of these showrooms offer fitted bedrooms which are a delight to behold, they often fall short on one important point.

There can be no doubt at all that having a fitted bedroom makes a great deal of difference to how you feel, from the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep. After all, your bedroom is the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night. Unless of course you work night shifts. It's important therefore that your bedroom provides you with a calm oasis of tranquillity, a place to relax and a place to feel calm and at peace at the end of what's almost certainly yet another stressful day.

The problem with most people's bedrooms at the moment is that more often than not they become repositories - dumping grounds for those things you're really not quite sure where to put. They're holding pens for items which might or might not be going up to the attic, and they represent a sort of purgatory for items which may or may not be discarded or given away. Piles of ironing, boxes and packaging from items we've recently bought but aren't quite confident enough with yet to discard the packaging for, and general untidiness bursts forth from every corner.

Even our clothes seem to be at war with the furniture after a while. It all used to fit, but of course we all have a tendency to buy new clothes, and this inevitably leads to us having insufficient storage space. Perhaps we ran out of hanging room, and started taking over the drawers, but then ran out of space there too. The result is usually piles of clothes balanced forgotten at the bottom of the wardrobe whilst good quality clothes lie crushed like sardines in drawers bulging at the seams. It's really all gone wrong. And it's not helping with sleep.

So taking a look at some of the fitted bedrooms Manchester showrooms have to offer is certainly a positive step towards regaining space and sanity. But as mentioned at the start, there's often one very real problem with looking at showroom bedrooms. The problem is this. No matter how hard we all tend to try, what inevitably happens when we go touring fitted bedroom showrooms looking for something better is that we walk away having set our heart on something wholly inappropriate. Why is it inappropriate? Because in almost every case it's exactly the same as our existing bedroom.

Well, perhaps not exactly the same. The wood may be different, the handles slightly funkier and it might come with a few extra drawers and features. But generally we tend to go for like for like. Perhaps it's a sense of fear about something new, but really this is where we need to focus.

If you have run out of storage space for things which need hanging up, then you need to look for a solution with more storage space. If your drawers are full, then you need more drawers. It's not rocket science, but all too often people end up with blind spots as far as where the real problems lie. Don't be afraid to break the mould. Why not add another wardrobe? Or ditch a wardrobe and go for a second chest of drawers? Why not replace the standard bed under which you hide the Christmas tree and the treadmill and instead go for a divan with drawers you can use?

If you find yourself heading out to see some of the fitted bedrooms Manchester based showrooms are offering then don't be afraid to break the mould. When you talk to a sales person, be honest about your existing problems. Yes, it may be a little embarrassing, but how else can you get better than being honest with your doctor on exactly where the problems are? The real problem is that people who work in fitted bedroom showrooms aren't psychic. They're unable to tell what problems you have already, so either be perfectly honest, or invite them to witness the devastation for themselves, where they'll be able to offer you a full and frank assessment of where the path to recovery, and sanity lies!
