The Real L Word Review and Description

So, the new season of The Real L Word officially aired on Sunday, June 5th. Just to get you all caught up with the show in it's entirety, I will name and explain each character and their lives. There are many new characters who were not around in season 1 and most of the characters from season 1 aren't in season 2. So, I'll start with my all time favorite,Whitney, the artist. Now, she's my favorite because she is beautiful and she, now in her late twenties, is what you would call a super player. I say super because she's my hero and I'm not really sure why she would be called a player and not a slut or a whore, but I live by it because for some reason in my crazy mind, it makes sense. Now, she's dated a bunch of females at the same time and somehow managed to keep the label "single". I applaud her. I watched her use her game on girls, which was obviously horrible, but the girls still fell for it.

One of those girls was Romi, whom she had a relationship with, while she was hooking up with Sara. Sara, who she met in San Francisco, seemed sorta kinda okay with the casual dating arrangement they seemed to have had until Whitney scurried off one night to talk to some random female. It clearly irritated Sara but Whitney talked her way out of it because she's just good like that, you know? Now, while Sara was staying at Whitneys place, they went out one night together, almost as a couple and ran into Romi. I know, awkward right? Entertaining as hell though. Now, obviously Whitney panicked but those player instincts kicked in quickly and she spoke to Romi outside, but Romi got really upset and just left.

Now Romi, who is Bi-polar, is a fire cracker in her own self. She's hot and feisty. She seemed to be madly in love with Whitney though. I swear, every one of these women that hang all over Whitney, make her look irresistable. Almost like a goddess. It's inspiring, really. Now, it's clear that this little love triangle had it's problems, but they worked through it anyway. It came time for Sara to go back home, and of course, Whitney and her had sex, but according to Whitney, it was more than that. It wasn't "just sex". Mhmm..right. But as soon as she drops Sara off at the airport to go home, she circles that airport, and picks up another girl, Tor. Apparently, a hook up from the past, also Whitney's best friend Alyssas' cousin. Alyssa is Whitney's room mate and seems to keep her in check most of the time. I can see the fear, but I can't quite see how it's working with her player tendencies.

` Anyway, Tor moves into Whitneys place and it's obvious that they are going to hook up eventually. It's very clear, but Whitney doesn't go without a lecture from Alyssa because I mean, it is her cousin. Not just some random girl. Although Whitney was warned, she managed to make a mistake. The day after she hooks up with Tor, she held a "White Trash Party" and invited many people over. Romi somehow managed to get invited without being invited. Everything was fine for awhile. Whitney tried to ignore the awkwardness within the room. But then out of nowhere Romi grabs Whtiney and pulls her into her bedroom. Obviously, there was no way Whitney could escape from having sex with Romi. She was clearly and ultimately trapped. No way out, I tell you. No sir.

Of course, you can't really have sex with someone while a party is going on outside your bedroom door without every single person there knowing it. It's almost like people are programmed to form crowds outside of doors of people having sex. Like sex noises are equivelant to dog whistles for dogs. So, of course, Tor was pissed. There goes that relationship. Now after Tor leaves, Sara moves to La. Go figure. Perfect timing right? I tell you, this girl has the best luck in the world. Of course the two of them start hanging out. Whitney still has Romi strung along but it's clear that in the case of having to choose one, she would have chosen Sara. It's like she draws her in or something. It's quite creepy to watch.

Now at this point the annual Dihna Shore party in Palm Springs rolls around and Whitney and Sara decide to go together and have some fun. They get there and Whitney tells herself that she isn't going to get drawn into Sara anymore. And she means business! What's that? Sara and Whitney are in the pool? Kissing? What? Wow. Who could've known something like that would happen. So, she caves and gets so far sunk into Sara. They get out of the pool and who shows up? None other than Romi. Another awkward moment. But no, it's not what you think.

Apparently Sara and Romi have befriended each other on Facebook. This could lead to nowhere good after Facebook gets involved. They start talking and they know what Whitney has been up to so they plan this secret meeting. Then all of a sudden, Whitney turns around and the two of them are making out. That was the final straw for Whitney, or so she said. She decided then and there that Sara was no good for her, but isn't she a bit of a hypocrite to say that?

This season, however, Tor is gone, Romi has a new girlfriend in Kelsey, but Sara is still around. Hmm..how awkward that must be. And out of nowhere comes Rachel, who is not an actual character on the show, but she's Whitney's ex of 4 years from New York. Apparently, they had a substancial relationship. A legit one. I was shocked too when I saw this, so don't feel bad. And although Whitney has Rachel back in her house living with her and contemplates the idea of them hooking up "casually", she still falls for Sara. She sneaks out to go see her to avoid the wrath of Alyssa. They, of course, have sex. Now aside from all the love triangles, sqaures, or whatever other geometrical shapes Whitneys getting into, you have other characters.

Romi is a new character who wasn't on the characters list last season but she made a huge impact and now is. I see a lot of drama coming from her this season with Kelsey, who seems to be very clingy while Romi is a huge socialite and loves the club scene. She's also starting a jewlery line from what I saw on the previews. I for one, can't wait for that. I see much entertainment coming from that couple alone.

Now, as for new characters, on one hand you have Sajdah, who has only recently moved to La and also recently came out. She's bold and opinionated and social and works as an activist. She's new to the lesbian world but it's clear that she's going to bring some entertainment to the show with her mother not quite being 100% supportive about her lifestyle or sexuality. She meets a beautiful girl who she seems almost immediately smitten with and it looks promising from the start.

On the other hand, you have Claire. Now, she's from California, but moved to New York and had been there for 10 years. She made the decision to move back to La with the intent to start a website about lesbian life. But, it's clear what her intentions are. Moving in with her first love, Francine, who Claire clearly states she hasn't let go of yet, says a lot for her motives. What makes it so bad is she has a girlfriend of a year and a half in New York she is leaving behind to do this. It seems shady from the start, but we will see how it plays out. I applaud her for being honest with herself and going to La to see what is holding her back though instead of ignoring it like most people do. Francine, however, seems very bitter towards Claire for coming to La and seems to be confused at her motives. She seems to be doing great in her career and doesn't want any drama with Claire to disrupt her life. I'm excited to see what comes from this because it seems like it is the make or break for their relationship. And now is the time to figure out where they stand.

Now, last but not least, you have Cori and Kacey. They're married. Yay! Gay marriage. Anyway, they seem to be so happily in love and it's cute. They are planning on having a baby which proves to be very very stressful on them. They have to find a donor and a doctor and figure out what their plans are. In this first episode of the season, they had a donor but he flaked on them, which made them very sad. It's a tough process to go through which is why I admire their courage and strength to go through this. They have been together for five years and married for 2. Needless to say, theyre the couple I have the most faith in on this show.

I get jealous of these girls everytime I watch the show. It's La and they all seem to have so much fun living in a busy world. Tons of girls and tons of fun to be had. So, unlike the real world, they live their lives and have it taped and they are not strangers. It's real life in a real life setting, not a house with no television or family or friends. It's normal. Your life. I enjoy it. Check it out sometime if you can.
