How to Identify Breitling Replicas

    • 1). Turn the Breitling face down and inspect the case back for an engraving, which every Breitling has. Each style has a different design. The engraving on a genuine Breitling is deep. Cheap replicas will have shallow etchings or stamped writing. Expensive replicas may have quality engraving, so this isn't the only mark of a true Breitling.

    • 2). Look at the face and examine the Breitling logo on the second hand or under the 12, depending on the type of watch it is. The "B" on the logo should match Breitling's exactly. The anchor and wings of a replica might be smeared. The logo under the 12 should be completely filled with metal, even in the spaces of the "B," and the image should be raised. A replica logo will look like a sticker and be flush with the watch face.

    • 3). Look at the labels around the chronograph dials. They should be only numbers, not days or months. A Breitling chronograph watch is expensive to produce. The functions of an inexpensive replica will not work properly.
