How to Set Up Windows Media Center in Windows 7
- 1). Click "Start," select "All Programs" and choose "Windows Media Center" from the menu. Click "Continue" on the Welcome page. Select the "Custom" setup option. Click the "Next" button to continue.
- 2). Select the radio button next to "Yes, I'd like to join" if you want to participate in Windows Media Center improvement program. Keep in mind that Microsoft will be able to collect your IP address and detailed information about what you watch and do while you're using Windows Media Center if you do so. If you'd rather not, select the option "No thank you" and click the "Next" button.
- 3). Select the radio button for the option "Yes" on the Enhanced Playback window. Press the "Next" button. On the Optional Setup window select the option "Optimize how Windows Media Center looks on my display." Click the "Next" button.
- 4). Choose your Display settings. Select the radio button for the option "Yes, I see the wizard on my preferred display" if you have a single monitor connected to your computer. Click the "Next" button. On the Identify Your Display Type window, select the option for the type of display or monitor that's connected to your computer. Click the "Next" button.
- 5). Select an option for the width of your display. Select the radio button next to either the "Standard" or "Widescreen" option and click the "Next" button.
- 6). Confirm the Display resolution that Windows Media Center has detected. Select the radio button next to the option "Yes." Click the "Next" button.
- 7). Select the option "Set up my speakers." Click the "Next" button. Select the radio button next to the option for the number of speakers that matches your speaker configuration. Click the "Test" button to make sure that you can hear sound coming from the speakers.
- 8). Select the radio button next to the option "I heard sound from all of my speakers" after testing your speakers to work with Windows Media Center.
