This is the story of a 12 year old girl, Mathilda played by Natalie Portman, who lives in New York with her step- family.
Her life is miserable except for the fact that she is close to her brother in whom she finds a little solace.
Her father handles drug for a cop called Norman Stansfield.

One fine day, Mathilda meets Leon (Jean Reno), a hitman by chance as he is a tenant in the same block where her apartment is.
She comes close to him and a relationship begins.
She goes out shopping for him one day when Stansfield kills her family for thinning out the drug distribution.
She is left with no other choice but to take refuge in Leon's apartment.
She craves for revenge and begs Leon to give her everything he has, his knowledge, his skills.
Soon, she become equipped with his kind of unusual life and slowly worms her way into it.
Leon and Mathilda's relationship blooms into a father/ daughter relationship and he tries to keep her out of trouble at every point.
However, he has no experience of being either a father or a friend and is unable to keep he out of trouble that she gets herself into by pursuing her revenge against Stansfield.
A wonderfully made film, it grips the heart of the audience.
A story that seems a little silly develops beautifully at the hands of Natalie Portman and Jean Reno.
A story of danger and drama yet it never can be called merely an action film.
