There are times when many of us struggle with a lack of motivation or inspiration to write our articles.
We may be stressed, busy in other areas of our lives or simply have run out of steam.
It's often a good idea to intercept this situation as quickly as possible, before it becomes a problem and a habit.
Let's look at some tips to help you write: - Keep a notebook handy.
Then whenever an idea comes into your mind you can quickly make notes, write down the bullet points and outline the subject matter.
Some people start by coming up with an article title, others think of topics that would be of interest, note a memorable quotation or write a random paragraph.
Write down your thoughts in a notebook and collect a series of entries that can be referred to and enhanced at a later date.
- Read articles in your sphere of interest.
They may prompt you to think of a new angle or perspective on a topic in your niche, a different way of approaching your writing.
This does not mean plagiarize other writers or copy their work.
However it's often interesting to be aware and keep up to date with topics that are being discussed in your field.
- Listen to the news.
Surveys, opinions, statistics can often reveal interesting facts that you could research further and/or comment on.
You may find yourself prompted to discuss developments and write about these topics.
- Talk to friends.
If your friends are interested in something why not consider how this could be of relevance to a wider audience.
Think of how your conversations could apply to different sectors of the public.
By broaching a subject that interests you it could open up a whole new range of article subjects to write about.
- Eavesdrop.
Public transport, restaurants, sales counters, queues often offer a treasure trove of subjects to spark your imagination.
They can be a fascinating starting point for topics that are of interest to various groups of people.
- Ask yourself what would you want to know about; what would prompt you to feel sufficiently interested and motivated to read an article by you.
This attitude should always be something to consider whenever you write an article that you are offering for others to read.
- Think outside the box.
Sometimes widening your viewpoint, coming at a subject from another angle can bring a new audience or a different insight to your readers and make it interesting for you to write about too.
Your enthusiasm will be communicated to your readers and encourage them to look out for other articles by you.
- Set aside time to regularly write.
Many of the top authors write regularly in their notebooks and sit in front of their computers for an allocated period of time each day, even if they remain uninspired to write a single word.
They treat writing as their job and maintain a regular discipline.
