[NB] The DVD is coming out on May 30th. That's pretty exciting.

[Jackson Publick] It's gonna be pretty weird for me. We had to create the files for it and special features and everything. I wish they had decided to make the DVD a little earlier because I had no work for about 5 months last year. And it would have been great to work on the special features then. But they didn't get around to saying, "Okay we want you to do stuff for the DVD," until we started production on the second season.

I was like, "Hey! Guess what I was doing last month? Nothing!" [Laughs.]

It was an untested show. It took a while to even find it's audience. They were on the fence about renewing it. It wasn't a flop, but it wasn't a runaway hit. We're probably a little more expensive than their other shows and we were kind of crossing action and comedy. And it's not necessarily that you see it one time and your totally hooked. It took a long time for people to find us. We were also their first half-hour show, I think, that wasn't pre-tested, like a Family Guy or Futurama re-run. I think they weren't 100% sure what to do.

They also had to decide [to re-new The Venture Bros., and then that obviously means its going to take a while to decide whether or not to do a DVD. I think we're gonna have a much bigger audience this year. I get this definite feeling that a lot more people know about it. And I think it's, again, because of these fans that we have. The people who liked us from the beginning really, really liked us.

And they're all the kind of the people who make 5 of their friends watch the show. They're real spreaders of the word. So, I think we're going to be surprised when we come back on that there's been this kind of invisible audience there.

[NB] I know you're swamped.

[Jackson Publick] I'm actually okay now. The thing I was finishing, I was editing the animatic for the very last episode. So as of this afternoon, I no longer have to stay up all night for the rest of the year. This is actually a big moment for me, that you're catching me. I mean, I have plenty more work to do, but to get to have a real life now, for a few months... I don't know how to do that. I haven't had one since this time last year.

[NB] You'll get to see daylight once in a while.

[Jackson Publick] Yeah! I'm looking forward to it.

[NB] Fantastic. Thank you very much, and I hope you have a great, relaxing evening.

[Jackson Publick] Good talking with you.
