How to Make a Dragon on Rhinoceros Evaluation
- 1). Open "Rhinoceros 3D." A new project file will automatically open. Ensure there are four viewports open. If there are not, right-click on the viewport title, such as "Top," and select "4 Viewports" in the "Viewport Layout" item. Change the views of each viewport by right-clicking on the viewport title, selecting "Select View" and choosing the view.
- 2). Model the dragon as a series of parts using a series of curves and the "Sweep1" command: model the body of the dragon first, then model the head, legs and arms in consecutive order. Model the wings and prominent scales after completing the main body.
- 3). Draw the longitudinal curve of the length of an element, in a given viewport, by typing "Curve" in the command line. Draw the cross sections of the element with the "Curve" command in viewports perpendicular to that of the longitudinal curve; you will need at least two cross section curves for each part of the dragon. Type "Sweep1" in the command line, select the longitudinal curve at the prompt, then select the cross section curves and press the "Enter" key; a surface will appear. Select the surface and type "Cap" in the command line to close the ends of the surface.
- 4). Type "PointsOn" in the command line to edit the control points of curves. Select the curves, then click the handles of the curves and adjust them to fit the desired form. Type "PointsOff" to turn off the edit points.
- 5). Add colors and textures using the "Material Properties" selection in the menu, "Object Properties." Type "Render" in the command line to render the model or select "Save" in the "File" menu to save the dragon. But remember you only have 25 saves with the "Rhinoceros 3D" evaluation version.
