The Hottest Shoe Trends of the 2015 Grammy Awards
We're in the thick of it: Award Season, that is. And that means our Sunday afternoons are spent watching live red-carpet feeds, dissecting every celeb look from head to shoe. We might be biased, but the Grammy's are our favorite shoe show of the season because it's one of the only red carpets where we can actually see the footwear plus the fashion is typically more sexy and fun!
Unfortunately, tonight's Grammy Awards proved to be a little sleepy, both in the fashion (see our best and worst red carpet moments) and overall performances, but we've managed to highlight the few ladies and two shoe trends that shined:
We're definitely seeing a classic throwback to pointed-toe heels on and off the red carpet. There's no denying that they elongate the leg and pull an entire look together. That's our PSA for why everyone should have a pair or two in their closet!
No Doubt front women, Gwen Stefani, was one of the first celebs to walk down the Grammy Award's red carpet and she absolutely dominated in classic black pointed-toe pumps. The sky high-heels were perfectly paired with a stunning Atelier Versace jumpsuit that made for an all around fabulous ensemble. Can we talk about how this beauty doesn't age? Gwen, what is your secret?
A handful of celebs followed suit with the pointed-toe stiletto trend including one of the Haim sisters, Kat Graham, and Ariana Grande.
Apparently Kat Graham and Ariana Grande both received the white stilettos memo, although Ariana's footwear choice disappointed as it reminded us of bridal footwear. White satin heels should always be re-considered. She's also very petite and the fullness of the shoe was just a little too much!
What would we have put her in? A simple pair of strappy metallic heels to highlight the shining details on her gorgeous Versace dress.
Speaking of strappy heels, they were a typical red-carpet favorite worn by everyone from the likes of Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Nikki Minaj.
Katy paired her metallic heels with a glittering beaded Zuhair Murad dress, violet locks, and a fabulous cat eye. Her goal was to "shine bright like a diamond" and she absolutely hit the nail on the head. After last weekend's Super Bowl performance it seems like Katy can do no wrong. Are you team Katie? We are!
Another lady that can do no wrong is Taylor Swift. We loved Taylor's bold take on strappy heels with her bright purple Giuseppe Zanottis. Her award show ensembles are always spot on yet totally unexpected. What did you think of her look? If only we could get those Victoria's Secret model legs!
Pointed-toe stilettos and strappy sandals are definitely not new to the red carpet; it was a safe shoe choice kind of night to say the least. Is red carpet mirroring real life? There's definitely a connection to the normcore trend and the renewed focus on every day simplicity.
