What is a Short Throw Projector?

Definition:

A short throw projector is one that can project a large image from a short (or close) distance. For example, the Epson PowerLite 425W projector has a throw ratio range of 0.48 to 0.65; this means it needs only 2.4 feet to display an image that is 60 inches wide. The Epson EX3212 projector, by comparison, has a throw ratio of 1.45 to 1.96. This means it needs to be 7.25 feet away from the screen or wall or to display the same 60-inch size.

Short throw projectors are ideal for small rooms or rooms where space is at a premium, such as classrooms. They are often more expensive than standard projectors.
