How to Hang Drapes with Rings
- 1). Measure the drape's width. Once you know the width, you can calculate the number of rings you will need. As a general rule, clip on drapery rings every 3 inches along the width of the drape. Divide the drape's width by 3 in order to find the precise number of rings needed. For example, if the width of the drape measures 60 inches, use 20 drapery rings.
- 2). Purchase drapery rings at least 1/2 inch larger than the diameter of the drapery rod. Drapery rings have many colors and designs, so make sure that they suit the decor of the room.
- 3). Put the drape on the floor. Fasten the first drapery ring 1/2 inch from the outside edge of the drape. Continue to fasten rings at 3-inch intervals along the width of the drape.
- 4). Put the rings over the curtain rod and clip them in place.
- 5). Test to see how the drape looks and functions by moving it along the curtain rod. Make adjustments as needed.
